When do athletics begin at Lake Highland?

There will be an informational meeting on Thursday, August 12th, at 5:30 p.m., in the Lakefront Room.

Sixth grade students may participate in Fall Sports: Volleyball, Swimming, and Cross Country. Winter Sports: Basketball, Soccer and Wrestling. Spring Sports: Softball, Track and Field and Tennis.

Middle School teams are members of the Metro League.  The Metro League is a division made up of other local private schools in the area.  Each member team takes a turn hosting leagues.  Middle School seasons usually are 6-8 weeks long.  Sixth grade teams will continue to practice on the main campus or at the O’Meara Sports Complex.

How do I sign up to participate in a sport?

Look to the main athletic page. Each individual sport is found there with coach contact information. You will find the calendar for that sport with try-out information, practice and game schedules. Lists are placed outside of the athletic office during the two weeks period before the starting date of the sport season. A student with required paperwork should sign up on the list provided.

What do I need to do to play a sport?

You must have a 2.0 grade point average and have a physical and liability release form on file in the athletic training office before you can try-out for a sport team. (This includes dance and cheerleading).

How do I contact a coach?

On the main athletic page and look under the athletics/PE button. The coaching staff is listed with their e-mail address and extension.

How do I find directions to the game today?

Directions are found on the team’s schedule page. If the directions are not available you can go to http://www.fhsaa.org/directory and you will find an alphabetical listing of all member schools. Included in the school information is a link to yahoo maps. Type in your location and click find and yahoo will give the directions to the school.

Why should I join the Booster Club?

The booster club is the volunteer group that provides the athletic department with assistance in generating funds for capital needs, banquets, breakfast for athletes, concessions and sprit support. The club’s membership and administration is representative of the sport teams within the athletic program. For more information on the booster club click booster club.
